What a great day in Ephesus. I started planning this day over a year in advance. My communications with Ertunga on the planning were easy. Our guide for the day, Ozgur, was right where he was supposed to be and right on time with a luxurious Mercedes Mini Van and driver. We had learned just that morning that our port departure time had been moved up an hour. Ozgur said the day would be tight, but we would work it out and we did. I had been to Ephesus over 20 years earlier, for my friends it was their first visit. Ozgur provided us with such incredible information on Ephesus, its history, the excavations and so much more. Ozgur was great in navigating our group of three through the larger groups to ensure we saw what we needed to see and could hear his narratives. The Terrance Houses were not yet open to the public 20 years ago, so I was excited to finally visit them, and they did not disappoint. Such incredible mosaics and wall frescos. After a few hours in Ephesus we headed to a local restaurant for lunch, which was tasty and unrushed giving us a further opportunity to learn about Ozgur and his years spent as a guide. A very special day with Ozgur in an incredible place.
