Don’t try and do Ephesus on your own. You will miss so much. We contacted Ertunga for a tour for a day of the area and we were overwhelmed with his knowledge and careful presentation of the history that we walked through. We traveled in a very nice vehicle and walked through that history at a comfortable pace while understanding what we were seeing. it was worth the price and more. We stopped for lunch at country restaurant at Ertunga’s suggestion and it was the best lunch we had on our trip. After our wonderful experience with a guided tour, we asked Ertunga to refer us to a guide for Istanbul, which he arranged, and that too was a great day. If you are lucky enough to be able to visit this part of the world, be all means, have a local guide take you on a tour.
Ertunga met us at the port of Kusadasi with his driver. he was very knowledgeable of the area having grown up in Kusadasi. More importantly for us he was a pleasure to deal with , very well spoken and related very well to our little group. he was very flexible in his program and our group thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. would certainly recommend his services. at the end of our trip we asked him to have a taste of Turkey. very obliging he delivered us to a local restaurant that made Gozlami. a very enjoyable experience.
We (2 independent travel couples, active retired) found Ertunga on Trip Advisor, and initially thought to hire him for our few days in Cappadocia. He told us, however, that Cappa. was beyond his area of work, but that he would be happy to arrange our tours there as well as transport with his travel industry connections, to ensure we got a quality product at a reasonable price.
He came through with excellent arrangements: tickets from Istanbul to Kayseri, and from Ankara to Istanbul were purchased in our names in Turkey when they first became available, at an excellent price not available (or easily accessible) from USA. We discussed our touring plans and the schedule he set up for us was reasonable and covered the region nicely, and at the same time not exhausting us with a 12 hr tour days. We had a lovely tour guide for 4 days (through our trip to Hadisha and on to Ankara) Her name is Emine, and her driver, whose name I had continual trouble pronouncing, was also terrific, and the tour van was perfect.
The tour Ertunga arranged provided all transfers and lunches (except beverages) until we arrived at our Istanbul hotel 4 days later. All transfer vehicles were very clean and drivers excellent. We chose our own hotels and dinner restaurants, but had we asked him to do this, I’m sure we would have done the same quality job.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ertunga to fussy friends. He is also quick to respond on the internet with answers to my various queries. And finally, we felt his price was very fair for the quality of our tour. Perhaps some day we will actually meet him, we loved Turkey and there are some places, such as Pamukkale, that are still “on the list”.
Ertunga met us at the port of Kusadasi for our tour of Ephesus and Basilica of St. John. Ertunga spoke very good English and his knowledge of Ephesus was outstanding. Of course, being on a cruise we were there at the height of the crowds, but Ephesus and the Terrace Houses are a must see. From there he found us a great Turkish lunch spot, at a carpet factory, but we were not interested in the demo so were not pressured into watching it. From there we went to the Basilica of St. John, high up on a hill top with outstanding views of the valley below. Again, Ertunga’s knowledge of the area met our expectations. From there I requested to take in the view from Ataturk Hill where many cruise ship tourist don’t know about. It was a spectacular view of Kusadasi and the cruise ship port. Ertunga made our day very memorable and I would recommend him to anyone visiting the Kusadasi and surrounding area.
From the moment we meet Ertunga we found him very friendly and knowledgable. On the way to Ephesus he told us current information about things happening in Turkey and surrounding countries. There had been a lot of reports on the news at home but getting first hand info and Ertunga’s perspective was unexpected and very interesting. He was flexible with what we wanted to do for the day. The place is amazing, particularly the Terrace Houses. As all the other reviews, we also found Ertunga excellent, very easy to listen to and would recommend. A last comment, even though it was quite busy when we were there, Ertunga made sure we were never in queue and always found shade when he had things to explain about the sites.
Ertunga, Blüent and Mustafa made our journey fantastic.
