Ertunga Rocks!

We had a fabulous tour with Ertunga on Sept. 5, 2014. We had made arrangements to be met at Kusadasi Cruise Terminal and to spend the day touring, with most of the time spent in Ephesus. Ertunga’s knowledge and professionalism was outstanding. He made the antiquities of this special place come to life as he described the history and also shared the many stories that developed over millenia. Ertunga met us with a private driver in a new minivan and we were extremely comfortable. He arranged for a beautiful local lunch where we had a wonderful time chatting about modern life, both in Kusadasi and in the US. I highly recommend Ertunga for any touring you would want to do in Turkey. Although we booked a day tour with him, he is also an expert in land tours of several weeks throughout the country. If I go back for another trip, Ertunga would be my first contact in setting up my trip.

High Point of Our Trip

I had read about Ertunga on Cruise Critic. I contacted him about a tour of Ephesus (Kusadasi). He was busy that day, but set us up with our guide Kemal and our driver Ali. There were six of us in a huge van. We saw so much this day. Ali would drop us off. Kemal would call him when we were ready to be picked up. We never had to wait. Kemal recommended a restaurant for lunch. Yes, there were other tour groups, but the food was good and fresh. We saw the House of the Virgin Mary, Ephesus, the Temple of Artemis, and much more. Kemal was concerned that we were going to Istanbul the next day. He took us to a Mosque and pointed out the different areas so we would understand what we were seeing.

We had a great day and a great tour. For six people, this was so much cheaper than the ship’s tour.

Informative, charming, thoughtful, patient: excellent guide

We’ve just spent two days with Ertunga in Ephesus, Priene, Miletus and Priene. Our family ranges from 67 to 13 and Ertunga kept us all interested. He has a deep knowledge of the history underlying all the ruins and sites he took us too and seemed to enjoy our enthusiasm for the complex and rich stories he told us. In fact that’s what he did, instead of just providing facts and details about each site, he told stories about who had been there, where they had come from, what they did. He brought it to life. I was showing my mother the photos of our visit and I could not remember which temple was which but I could tell her stories about an array of stone carvings. He was also flexible, relaxed and amusing. A perfect guide.

Fabulous Day in Ephesus

Ertunga is awesome. If you are going to Ephesus, you will be very pleased if you have the opportunity to spend the day with him.

We arrived at 1030 by cruise, and Ertunga was waiting for the 4 of us. We went to Mary’s chapel, Ephesus, the Terrace homes, St. John’s, a lovely lunch, a carpet factory co-op (our choice), Sirince for a shopping opportunity, and the best ceramic factory in the country (again, our choice). We arrived at the dock at 8pm, 9.5 hours later, never rushed, full of history, knew every merchant in the area and never ever pushed, just guided!

Highly recommended

Highlight of our Port Excursions

Two couples went on the Norwegian Jade for a two week Mediterranean cruise. We found Ertunga online. This was definitely our favorite shore excursion. We were met by Ertunga and a driver in a wonderful minibus type vehicle. I loved that Ertunga’s seat swiveled around so he was speaking towards us, not away from us. He was extremely knowledgeable about Ephesus and the surrounding area. He answered all of our questions. My only regret is that I didn’t study more about the area before we visited it. The part of Turkey we were in was beautiful. We were interested in pottery so he took us to a great pottery store and factory. I would give Ertunga and his tour a definite 10!! This was also one of our more economical shore excursions.

Turkey Private Tours

We were very pleased with our guides, Ugur in Istanbul and Ozgur (Oscar) in Ephesus. We were on Norwegian’s Mediterranean cruise and I did a lot of research before we left. I found Ertunga http://ertungaecir.com and asked many questions before booking our excursion. We had our 7 and 9 year old daughters as well as our parents. Both guides were knowledgeable, friendly and offered great experiences for our wide age ranges. We were so impressed with Ephesus. It was our favorite city and using a guide and private driver allowed us to absorb more of what we were seeing. I highly recommend these guys!

tour with ertunga

we booked a private tour with ertunga after reading many reviews of people. He exceeded expectations. He was prompt and made it easy. His knowledge of not only ephesus but history in the region was exceptional. My wife who is not a history buff found it fascinating. he inspired me to read more about some of the ancient civilizations. He went at our speed on the tour and we could pick and choose how much time to spend at each site. ephesus is extraordinary and i would not do it without a private tour guide. ertunga is first rate and we would use him again.

Tour tailored to our needs

Booking this tour with Ertunga was entirely hassle free. He was waiting for us when we disembarked, and we were driven around in a spacious air-conditioned minivan for the day. Our family, including two children aged 8 and 11, thoroughly enjoyed our day in Ephesus. Ertunga is extremely knowledgeable, and we were fascinated by his stories about the history of Ephesus.
The flexibility to decide what you want to see was very important to us, and the carpet making demonstration he took us to see was something the children will never forget.
Even though we did not have Turkish Lira, Ertunga paid for parking and entrance at the House of the Virgin Mary for us, and we could reimburse him in Euro at the end of the tour.
If you want your needs taken care of in Turkey while on a cruise, Ertunga comes highly recommended!

Highly Recommend Booking with Turkey Private Tours

I booked with Ertunga for a day trip to Kusadasi while on a cruise based on research on Trip Advisor and Cruise Critic, so I have been where you are now. Our party had four adults and three children ages 7,5, and 4. First, booking online with Ertunga was a breeze. He was easy to reach and responded quickly to my emails. He was early meeting the ship and took us directly to our tour van and gave us a recommended tour for the day. He was accommodating of the sights we did and did not want to visit. Ertunga was extremely knowledgeable about the area, its history, importance and the complexities that make Kusadasi such a delight to visit. He was also very accommodating of the children, who were not the easiest at times. Of all the shore excursions we took on our trip, this one was superior to the others. His English is excellent and we had no issues communicating or understanding information or directions. He was even courteous enough to pay for tickets and meals for us and we reimbursed him when we settled up at the end of the tour. This made things a lot easier so we did not need to exchange money for Turkish Lira. I highly recommend Turkey Private Tours and Ertunga. You will not be disappointed.

Awesome Day in Ephesus

We took a 12 day cruise and hired Eutunga as our private guide in Ephesus on June 29. Ertunga is extremely knowledgeable of the history of the area. He is very personal and flexible. We wanted to go to other places and he made that possible, We had the chance to see more places than going with a ship excurstion. We visited a carpet weaving factory, spice shop, and also a typical Turkish village. What a great time in Ephesus! When we are back in Turkey, we will definitely hire Ertunga to visit some other parts of Turkey.
