About Biblical Ephesus Tour

Tour of Biblical sites in the area

Biblical Ephesus tour is a perfect program for our Christian guests. As Ephesus ancient city has important place in Bible, for our Biblical tour of Ephesus we carefully choose guides who have good knowledge of Bible and Christian history.

The apostle Paul first visited Ephesus on his return from missionary journey where he ‘entered the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews’ (Acts 18:19-21).

On his second journey, Paul came to Ephesus and taught the twelve disciples who knew only the baptism of John (Acts 19:1-7) and ‘went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God’ (Acts 19:8)

According to the tradition, John wrote his Gospel in Ephesus upon the request of other disciples and died in the church named after him on Ayasuluk Hill.

Testimonials

  • As a young Catholic priest I was a little apprehensive to travel in a Muslim country with as much tensions as there has been in the recent past, but I was really looking forward to seeing the seven Churches which St John wrote to in the book of Revelations, as well as Mary’s house in Ephesus. I could not have been more impressed with your guide Ertunga’s knowledge and professionalism throughout the entire trip. I would have zero hesitations to go back or to recommend Ertunga as a tour guide. It as an incredible historical and spiritual experience.

  • Enjoyed our recent 22 day trip in Western Turkey visiting many Christian History sites. Ertunga was able to knit together much disparate info, suggesting changes as we went along to compensate for weather problems, etc. I would make the following recommendations: (1) Take Euros and Turkish Lira, not USA dollars, (2) Take eye drops and diarrhea tablets, and (3) Do not pet any cats or dogs – disease spreads rapidly. Best parts of the trip for me was Cappadocia and Priene.

  • Our Biblical Tour of Turkey was more than what we had expected… And this was because of Ertunga and his impeccable planning and handling of our private tour. His stories made all the places we visited more alive….the ruins were impressive even dramatic but as Ertunga explained all these places to us these stones became living and breathing cities

  • Ertunga, was exceptional and his knowledge of history, Biblical sights, legends, myths was amazing and he had a wonderful sense of humour. We saw everything on our itinerary exactly as we had requested and the food and accommodation was great. We have no hesitation in recommending Ertunga as he made sure that we had and extremely comprehensive and fun filled trip and it was a true Turkish experience.

  • Had a 12 days outstanding biblical tour including the 7 churches of revelation & the various biblical tour. Our guide, Mr Ozgur, though a new believer, has outstanding bible knowledge. He brought the various site we visited to life with his explanations. Our driver was friendly and a great driver. All the accommodation and restaurant we went to were 1st class. Also need to thank Mr Ertunga for the good communication throughout and good planning of the itinerary. I would highly recommend Ertunga and his company to all. Good value for money.

  • To pick a favorite part of the tour is not enough because all part of it were our favorite while the site of the home of our Lord's mother is humbling, what is left of Ephesus will surely take your breath away. Not to talk of the theater at Melitos and many more. We enjoy it all. Our tour guide was the owner of the company. Very knowledgeable, patient and very accommodating even to last minutes changes of tour plans. Our tour driver was fantastic. He supply us with local fruits from his own pocket: thank you. My group is more like a returning client because our children came six months before us while I am part of the adult group from the same church. I recommend Ertunga Ecir and his company to anyone that need their service.

  • This was, hands down, the best tour I’ve EVER been on!! Our guide, Volkan, was kind, knowledgeable, pleasant to be with, and even adjusted elements of the tour for our group based on our unique needs. I learned things I’ve never heard anywhere else and that I will remember for the rest of my life. My group had such a great time and felt so cared for. It was a wonderful balance of information, pacing, rest, fun, and experiencing memorable elements of the culture in each place we went. I can’t recommend this experience enough!!

  • This is very targeted tour and we learned a lot about the political, regional, cultural, power, economics and dynamics of the multi-ethnic groups alongside their struggle and concerns. We had a clearer understanding for why Jesus wrote to each of the seven churches in a specific manner, through John. I did another 10-day Turkey highlights group tour right after the seven churches tour and we overlapped in a few cities but it did not integrate any biblical knowledge. Hence I highly recommend this tour to those who want to learn more about the book of revelations. Our tour guide Orguz is a rare minority Christian in Turkey and hearing from his faith is already a good testimony of how God works in Turkey and what it mean to be Christian in an Asia Minor country. It sheds a different light to what it means to be a “church”.

  • The tour was wonderful! I have no words to describe! I learned a lot, marveled at the grandeur of these ancient ruins! Congratulations to our guide Volkan Akalin and the owner of Felicity Travel, Ertunga Ecir, who provided us with this immersion in History.

  • When we were planning for our visit to 7 Churches, we would like a Turkish guide to explain the various backgrounds that would shed light to help us understand the meaning of the content in Revelation 2-3. We found Felicity Travel and Ertunga Ecir was very quick to respond to our enquires. When we asked how he could explain the content of the letters, he revealed he is a born again believer. In this way, we built trust of each other for all the arrangement of the visit including the cost of the tour and payment. Being a native of Turkey and a believer, we found that Ertunga was able to explain the backgrounds of each of the 7 churches clearly. He carried with him a Bible and after reading a passage, he would explain its meaning. In this way, he literally brought the contents of the letters to the 7 Churches alive. Furthermore, he is a friendly and helpful tour guide who goes out of his way to ensure his clients are satisfied and happy. We would recommend him to you for your consideration should you wish to visit the 7 Churches.

  • My wife and I visited Turkiye engaging the customised services provided by Felicity Travel from 27 Aug to 5 Sep 2022. We are very pleased with all the arrangements and provisions made to ensure a smooth and highly memorable trip. I would like to especially commend all the guides (Ugur in Istanbul; Özgür in Izmir; Bülent in Cappadocia) for being highly professional, personable, and hospitable to us. We felt privileged to have spend the longest time (5 days) with Özgür who took us to the seven churches in the Book of Revelation amongst other biblical sites; and for his insightful sharing as we belong to the same household of faith. We highly recommend Felicity Travel and the above mentioned guides to anyone planning to visit Turkiye.

  • My favorite part about the tour was the interaction of our group, including our guide, Volkan Akalin. We came in loving these Scriptures, but we were amazed that every day was more full and incredible. The knowledge he brought from ancient times, and each person’s contribution brought a lasting impact as we shared the experience. Volkan so ably led discussions and saw each of us as valuable. He did so many extra things that he saw would add insight and pleasure! Would not want another guide!

  • 14 days of touring Turkey with a deeply knowledgeable tour guide makes it an unforgettable experience. Wealth of knowledge in regional history, in archaeology, in ancient architecture, and in biblical relevance to the sites visited. Covered not only the popular sites, but many off-the-beaten-path sites that typical tours won’t include. 4 star hotels, spacious 15 seater van for a family of 5, attentive driver and guide to every need, for a private tour that is priced well below a group tour.

  • Our group of 4 spent 19 days in Turkey on a Biblical Tour covering the 7 Churches & the footsteps of Paul on a private tour led by Ertunga Ecir. We learnt a lot from Ertunga who was highly knowledgeable and passionate in sharing his knowledge. In addition to Biblical sites, we also covered many other historical sites, did hot air ballooning at Cappadocia, and some shopping in Istanbul. We learnt so much and we highly recommend Ertunga to anyone desiring to do a Biblical/historical tour of Turkey.

  • Ertunga is the best tour guide I have experienced and his company is ideal. While setting up the trip Ertunga was always quick to communicate. He shapes personalized itineraries and sends detailed plans with everything I could want to know. His prices, for a private tour, were less than the highly rated group tours I looked at. When the days came for the tours, Ertunga was always prompt. The van they used is in good condition and the fridge is stocked with cold drinks. Ertunga speaks excellent English and is extremely knowledgeable. But he is also a good story teller, and able to build up our knowledge over time so that we are ready to understand interesting insights later on. He knew all kinds of history, but he was especially good on how the different archeological sites connect with the Bible. I have a PHD in Christian history and I brought my 15 year old daughter. Ertunga was able to connect with both of us and creat tours that were interesting for both of us. Finally - Ertunga goes above and beyond. He booked an excellent guide for us while we were in Cappadocia, and then when we had problems with our Istanbul flight, he invited us to ride along with him and his driver. I can’t recommend him and his company highly enough.

  • Ozgur was extremely knowledgeable about all areas we visited on the tour, he shared local Turkey cuisine with us. We stayed at really nice hotels! He shared the history of the trip before we arrived at each location and he was patient with the amount of questions we had. To end the trip before dropping us off back at the airport he was kind enough to take us to a mall so we could shop for our love ones before leaving this beautiful country! I would high recommend Ozgur as tour guide for anywhere in Turkey he will make the trip that much more enjoyable!

During religious holidays and on Sundays there is a mass organizes in Virgin Mary’s House and everybody can join it. It is also possible to arrange a private mass for groups. If you are interested in this option, a priest must be informed in advance.

During our tours, we never make any shopping stop, unless the customer requires so. All the tours are tailor made. So our guests decide where to go and how much time to spend in each sight. This Temple was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient world. There is only one column left there. But it is nice to hear the history of the place, so that you can understand Ephesus better.
